The new headquarters of the foundation Sila M. Calderón, is characterized by promoting and developing society.
The “Centro para Puerto Rico” (Center for Puerto Rico) is located in the former municipality of “Río Piedras” that was annexed to the municipality of San Juan in 1951. This houses the main campus of the University of Puerto Rico.

The building is brand new and is used for civic activities. It is the headquarters of the Sila M. Calderón Foundation, private, non-profit organization that promotes programs and services that address issues of poverty, the role of women in society, urban renewal, the ethical and social responsibility. The building has an auditorium which hosts various social and educational activities.

Acoustic Features
The current configuration shows a reverberation time RT = .66, which is .23 higher than ideal levels, which can create significant excess reverberation, which is generally undesirable and should be controlled.

Adopted Solution
Perforated MDF absorbent material comprising mineral fiber with a cavity 1" manufactured by Fantoni 4akustik. The most efficient configuration for this project is Eco 28/4, which consists of a panel with 28mm reflective surface and 2mm slot, a unique drilling diameter (absorbs mid and high frequencies) and 7.5% open area.
